This year Radford’s culinary team has welcomed its latest chef, Catherine Abunimeh (Abu-knee-meh). This is her first year teaching culinary, but her second year teaching overall. Abunimeh has taught for two and a half years so far, some of her experience includes, substituting at Aliamanu Middle School, Moanalua Elementary School and Moanalua Middle School.
When asked about why she chose Radford, she said, “I am probably biased but I think Radford has the best students. I enjoy being at the high school at the ‘pulse of our youth.’ I love seeing the students grow at Radford, not just academically but independently as well.”
She picked culinary specifically because she is “passionate about learning more about culinary arts.”
Some of her hobbies outside of school are thrifting, listening to audiobooks, watching baking shows, and hiking with her dogs, Lady, and Jet. Lady is a 10-year-old boxer, and Jet is a miniature pinscher
Outside of being a teacher, Abunimeh is also a loving mother. Her son Michael graduated from Radford in 2023, and most of her students still refer to her as “Michael’s Mom.” Some of her preferred music tastes are actually what most students listen to!
When asked how she discovered this music taste she said, “I enjoy listening to jargon I would never be privy to if I was not a teacher here.”
Overall, overjoyed is Abunimeh to join the Ram family.
