Holiday Recipe: Christmas Wreath Treats
December 11, 2019
Every year for Christmas, my family and I have a tradition of coming together and baking cookies and treats for the holiday season. It’s one of my favorite things to do with my family during Christmas. This is something we’ve been doing since my mother was a little girl. She used to bake the same type of treats with her family growing up as well. Baking these treats with my family is very important to me and it’s a tradition that I would still like to continue throughout adulthood.
My family and I make Christmas wreath treats every year and it’s one of the easiest things to make. A basic description of this tasty snack is that they are simply Rice Krispie Treats or Cornflakes with vanilla flavoring and little cinnamon red hot candies. We dye the wreaths green to make them more Christmas-y and it’s one of our favorite kinds of treats.
Ingredients :
- 1 bag of marshmallows (preferably the smaller ones)
- ½ cup of Butter
- 1 ½ teaspoon of Green food coloring
- 2 teaspoons of Vanilla extract
- 3 ½ cups of Cornflakes cereal
- 3 tablespoons of Cinnamon red hot candies
Recipe
- Your first step is to melt the butter in a saucepan over low heat.
- Then add the bag of marshmallows and cook them until they are completely melted. Keep stirring or the marshmallow will harden.
- Afterward, remove the pan from the heat and add the food coloring, vanilla, and cornflakes.
- Grab a spoon and drop big lumps of the mixture onto some parchment paper.
- Create a wreath shape with your fingers and then add the red hot candies for decoration.
