As the school year winds down, many students are preparing for finals that will be taking place in May. Finals week can be a stressful and overwhelming time, with students juggling multiple exams, projects and papers from different classes all at once. However, with these five tips to prepare and get in the right mindset, it’s possible to make this week a little less stressful and even thrive.
Tip #1 – Manage Time Wisely: To help manage time better, students should first break down their work into manageable chunks to help them avoid feeling overwhelmed. Try to prioritize assignments based on importance and urgency; focus on the most critical assignments first before moving on to easier or shorter assignments.
Tip #2 – Avoid Procrastination: Students can avoid procrastination, by doing any late or missing assignments whenever they have free time at home or during school. Setting personal deadlines helps one continue to keep track of the assignments they’ve finished and need to finish.
Tip #3 – Stay organized: Students can help themselves stay organized and keep track of their assignments and notes by using a planner or calendar to help keep track of assignment deadlines and progress. Students could also color-code their notes to help them remember them and navigate through them easier. This helps students find the information they need quicker and retain it better.
Tip #4 – Get Sleep and practice self-care: To be successful, students need to take care of themselves so they’re well energized for finals. Maintain a regular sleep schedule, even on the weekends before, which can help regulate the body’s natural sleep-wake cycle. Students should also create a relaxing bedtime routine to help them wind down before bed.
